Child Safety

Photos, video & live streaming

How we take and use images of our players — and the choices you have as a parent or guardian.

Consent is your choice. Saying no will not affect your child’s selection, participation or standing at the club in any way — and you can change your mind at any time.

Why we take photos and video

Celebrating our players is part of what makes a community club. We take photos and video at training, on match days and at club events to recognise achievements, promote junior cricket, thank our sponsors and keep a record of the club’s history. We do it in a way that puts children’s safety first, in line with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and our Appropriate Behaviour With Children Code of Conduct.

Where images may be used

  • This website, and our Facebook and Instagram pages.
  • Club newsletters, the annual report, presentation nights and clubroom displays.
  • Club promotional material — registration and come-and-try flyers, our sponsorship prospectus, grant applications, and thank-yous to sponsors.
  • Local media coverage of the club (for example, match reports and photos in The Standard).
  • Live streams of our games, home and away, and any highlights or replays taken from them.
  • Association, Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia channels, where they cover our teams.

We do not sell images, and we do not licence them to anyone outside the club and its partners for their own advertising.

Our rules for images of children

  • Photos are taken in a public, open part of the ground — never in changerooms, toilets or any other private space.
  • Children are appropriately dressed — playing or training kit — and images are respectful and focused on the cricket.
  • We never publish a child’s contact details, home address, school, or anything else that would let a stranger find them.
  • We use first names only, or team lists where naming a side matters — we don’t caption a child’s full name against a close-up photo.
  • Club images are taken and posted only by committee members, coaches, team managers or the social media team — all of whom hold a current Working With Children Check.
  • Children are asked, and we listen. If a child doesn’t want their photo taken, that’s the end of it — whatever consent we hold on file.
  • Images are stored in club accounts, not on individuals’ personal phones or social media.

Live streaming

Some of our games are live streamed so family and supporters who can’t make it to the ground can watch. The club has a portable camera, so this can happen at home or away, not only at Ziegler Parade. A live stream is a public broadcast of play in progress: it is one camera pointed at the field, and it is not edited before it goes out.

We want to be straight with you about the limits here. If you have told us you don’t consent, we won’t use photos or video of your child — but a single player can’t be removed from a live stream of a game they are playing in, and a stream can’t be un-broadcast afterwards. If that’s a concern for your family, please talk to us before the game and we will work it out with you. It’s a conversation we’re happy to have, and there is usually a way through it.

Photos taken by families and spectators

Parents and supporters are welcome to photograph their own child. We ask that you take care with other people’s children: keep those images for personal use, and don’t post a photo of someone else’s child to social media without asking their family first. Anyone who is asked to stop taking photos at a club activity must stop. If something concerns you, speak to a coach, a committee member or one of our Child Safety Officers.

Your consent — and how to change it

For players under 18, we ask the parent or guardian for consent when you register through PlayHQ each season. Consent is optional, and choosing not to give it has no effect on your child’s participation, selection or standing at the club.

You can give, change or withdraw consent at any time — you don’t need to wait for the next registration, and you don’t need to give a reason. Email apccgators@gmail.com and we will update our records and tell the coaches, team managers and social media team.

You can also ask us to take down a specific photo or video. We will remove it from the club’s website and social media promptly. Please understand there are limits to what we can undo: we can’t recall material that has already been printed, published by a newspaper, or copied and re-shared by someone else.

If your family has a safety reason for your child not to be identified — for example, a family violence or court order situation — please tell us at registration or contact a Child Safety Officer directly. We will handle it confidentially and make sure the right people know without sharing the reason.
